Rare 'clock watch' by Richard Maw, London, 18th Century, the gilded and blue enamelled outer case finely chased and pierced, and with red and white paste stones set into the bezel, white enamelled dial, the interior dust cover signed, a bell within the interior case (a replacement), finely chased back plate centred with a rose cut diamond end stone, lever movement, with go/stop and strike silent levers, 55mm diameter

More Information

Cracks to the dial in star form from 12 o'clock extending to 11 and 2 o'clock. Abrasions to the paste stones. Some wear to the gilding. Some poor restoration to the blue enamelled back, with associated fine detail losses. The bell is a replacement. The watch ticks sporadically when wound. Other functions have not been tested.
