A MID 16TH CENTURY MITTEN GAUNTLET. A steel mitten gauntlet for the left hand, with a flared tubular cuff with worked rim, five articulated wrist pieces and five similar articulated finger guards with a three part thumb guard. With remnants of kid leather lining. 44cm.
According to family tradition this piece of armour was acquired from Allington Castle in Kent c. 1970. *CR A nice example with light surface marks, lining in worn state.
