Eustathius
Parekbolai eis tou Omerou Oduseian [Iliada].
Basel: Froben, 1559- 1560.
847pp, [65], [1] - [6], 751pp - [1], 755pp-1519pp. 2 volumes bound in 3. Condition: browning, occasional spotting and the odd stain. Stamps to title and in places. Leaves crisp. Folio, beautifully bound in decorative vellum, with portraits over boards. 350mm x 230mm.
The extensive commentary of Eustathius, accompanied by the text of Homer, was first printed by Antonio Blado in Rome in 1542-1550. It was compiled in the twelfth century from earlier commentators, and demonstrates Eustathius's wide reading; many of the works he quotes from and some variant readings would be otherwise unknown. In Greek.

Provenance: Breslau, library stamp; P. Prevost, bookstamp Hesychius.
