A late 19th Century Gothic Revival ebonised prie dieu or prayer chair, with crucifix and acanthus leaf splat over turned front legs, upholstered in Morris type fabric.
The cheek of veneer is missing from either side of the seat. There are some woodworm flight holes that are evident. Some scuffs and wear to the frame.
