Anglo-Boer War South Africa Campaign - scarce original 19th Century Kimberley Medal 'To The Gallant Defenders Of Kimberley' 'Invested 15th Oct 1899 and Relieved 15th Feb 1900 '. Unimpressed (as issued). No ribbon.

The creation of the Kimberley Medal was by the Mayor and Council of Kimberley.  It was struck in England but, due to the fact that its incorporated an unsanctioned Royal Cipher on the reverse, most of the medals were melted down.  No medals were ever issued and it is unclear how many medals survived.
