Naval Interest: A silver snuff box, hallmarked Birmingham 1815 by John Shaw. Engraved with the image of an early 19th century steam boat, and inscribed ''The Proprietors Of The Lord Nelson Steam Boat To Mr John Whyte' as a tribute of their esteem for his great and indefatigable services as clerk to their concern, 1st March 1816'. 8.7cm wide, 134g. The box comes with a hand written description of the boat, as well as an 1894 receipt from the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts when his widow sold the box in 1894.
