A Chinese carved celadon jade figure of a jaguar and ram, with certificate stating Ming period (1368-1644), but possibly later, the dynamically carved figure of the jaguar with it's front legs resting upon the vanquished ram, it's head turned and mouth open in a roar, in celadon jade with pale mottling and some terracotta coloured calcification around the back left leg and front right leg and tail of the ram, teracotta coloured clay residues to the surface elsewhere, 5in. (14cm.) high, 6¾in. (17.2cm.) long. * Provenance: Dragon Culture Ltd., Hollywood Road, Hong Kong, 1999 Good condition overall. The ram's tail is quite heavily calcified, and there are two cracks to the jade between the tail and the top of the back legs. There is also a possible chip to the jade here, showing a pale mark inn the calcified area.
