A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY WAR MEDAL TO THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. A British War Medal named to '26054 Pte S. West Durh L.I.' Stanley Wear was born in Kilburn, London, he entered France on the 14th of July 1915. He was twice wounded, on the 27th September 1917 and the 17th of May 1918, he was entitled to wound stripes for both wounds. On the 24th July 1918, whilst serving with the 1st/8th Battalion he was wounded again, on this occasion he did not recover and died. He is buried at the St. Erme Communal Cemetery Extension, his headstone reads 'Their glory shall not be blotted out'. Sold with copied research. *CR Medal tarnished. A lot fee of £8 inc.
