1899 1r.50 Photographic essay in the adopted design, the stamp size essay mounted on thick card lettered "A" and dated "Jan 12th 99", with blue and red colour washes in the corner showing the colours intended for the design and duty plates. Bicolour printing was later abandoned, and the stamp issued in rose. A unique essay from the De La Rue archives. Photo on Page 70.
