Numismatics - George I (1714-1727) - TWO George I South Seas Company silver shillings dated 1723, OBV: first laureate and draped bust right REV: Roses and plumes in angles, intermitted ' S S C ' condition: both, GVF (Good Very Fine). The South Sea Company famously known for the economically disastrous "South Sea Bubble" of over-speculation which made the Company go bust, had previously supplied much silver bullion to the Mint in exchange for the right to export money overseas. The silver supplied up to 1723 produced a large coinage of Crowns, Halfcrowns, Shillings and Sixpences
