A late 19th century Chinese short sword or Jian, having 42cm steel blade and carved reeded wooden handle with brass fittings, the tortoiseshell veneered scabbard having engraved brass mounts, 57cm.
The blade has some rusting, tortoiseshell has loss and scabbard is damaged.
