East India Company Flintlock Pistol of the Napoleonic War. Model "Short" Cavalry Pistol 1778 to 1807 (approx). Barrel 8", Carbine Bore .577 / 25 Bore. Clear English Proof and View marks to l/h side of barrel. Lock signed "Leigh" with V-EIC Heart logo to tail of lock and dated "1803". Ring Neck Cock, crisp on 1st & 2nd cock. Rammer loose with brass tip, belt hook, brass sideplate and t/guard. Flat sideplate with tail, short eared buttcap. Wooden Apron around breech tang (minor sliver of wood missing below apron to lockplate). Note: pistols with the Belt Hook were sold to the Board of Ordnance for use by the British Navy in the war against Napoleon. A fine untouched sleeper.
