A rare detached lock from an early 17th century English flintlock musket, originally made as snaphaunce, plate 8¾", with dog catch, cock stop squared pan, and horizontally acting scear. Basically GC for age (rusty and pitted overall, the frizzen spring missing). See "The Journal of the Arms & Armour Society" for September 1992 (Vol XIV No2) for an article detailing the evolution of this type of lock. £300-350
