KING'S LYNN PENNY POSTS: 1823-37 range on well-annotated leaves with a good range of Receiving House marks etc. The LYNN/Penny Post (BCC 256) incs. 1823 EL from Castle Rising Lynn/PP in unusual red brown & large boxed No 1 RH mark on reverse; 1828 EL with very smudged "1" hs on reverse (BCC 257, only one other recorded); 1829 EL (cut into) v. fine strike (late use), also good but smudgy boxed No 2 Snettisham; 1827 front with V. fine boxed No 3 of Heacham; 1828 part EL with good boxed No 5 Clenchwarton addressed to Captain Lyons, HMS Blonde, Portsmouth; 1830-33 boxed Lynn/Penny Post (BCC 258, rated E) with boxed Nos 3 & 5; 1833 with s/l CASTLE-RISING on reverse. 1834-37 selection of boxed Lynn/Penny Post (BCC 259), inc. 1835 E from Castle Rising to London with various markings including s/l CASTLE-RISING and boxed TO PAY 1D ONLY; receiving house marks inc. fancy Nos. 1, 2 & 3, and boxed Nos. 3, 4, 5; 1837 front with v.fine unboxed Lynn/Penny Post (BCC 260 rated F).
