Chinese embroidery, Qing Dynasty: A tiny pair of lotus shoes for bound feet, the lower section in turquoise silk, above which a band of black with scalloped edge is embroidered with cream flowers and adorned with pink fringing. The toes of each shoe are fitted with a larger flower and a light purple fringe, approx. 7.5 cm long and 3 cm wide at the heel; together with a colourful collar or panelled waist decoration, with silk tie strap, each panel in two sections the upper sections with red silk centres embroidered in shades of blue with gold thread, bordered in black, the lower sections with cream centres embroidered in red and salmon silks, edged in gold and bordered in black, the whole backed in embossed pale blue silk (3 items)
