Brigadier-General Herbert Cecil Potter (1875 - 1964) saw action in the Second Boer War, Sudan and World War I, commanding a Brigade at the Battle of the Somme, Arras, and Ypres. He was later made military chief in Belfast and then Colonel Commandant, 3rd Infantry Brigade, Peshawar, before leaving the Army in 1927
