WWII FRENCH BATTLESHIP 'RICHELIEU': 18 May 1944 letter written aboard the French battleship 'Richelieu' in service with the Royal Navy 'Eastern Fleet' from 3 Apr. to 3 Aug. 1944. Struck with 'dumb cancel and addressed to U.S.A. Text in French written by Robert (Bob) Rosati to Dele (Odile) and mentions scorching temperatures in contrast to his previous letter dated 14 Apr. when he talked of his move from 'a very cold location' (when the Richelieu was off Norway) to a very hot one, and gave his postal address as F.S.
