A FIRST WORLD WAR PAIR TO A CASUALTY ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF ARRAS IN THE NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 34532 Pte F.W. Walker Northu'd FUS. Frank Wilfred Walker was the son of Fred R. and Susannah Walker of 10 West Street, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. He served with the 1st Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers and died on the 9th of April at the age of 22. He is buried at the Tilloy British Cemetery, Tillo-Les-Mofflaines, his headstone reads 'Greater Love Hath no man than this'. Sold with extensive copied research and images of his headstone. *CR Surfaces marks to the War Medal. A lot fee of £8 inc. VAT will be charged on top of the hammer price and BP on all lots.
