A late 19c French figural mantel clock the gilt spelter statues by E J Ferrand depicting Eros and a young girl and entitled 'Le Triomphe de L'Amour'. this is mounted on a circular stepped white marble plinth which is supported by a large rectangular marble base with gilt spelter paw feet. the clock is inset to the front of the plinth and has a 9cm white enamel dial with champlevé enamel centre which matches a band of champlevé enamel around the circular plinth. the movement is countwheel striking on a bell and the clock stands 58.5cms h.
The statue is loose on its plinth and requires tightening up and Eros has lost is bow from his left hand. The gilding is slightly tarnished. the enamel work is intact and the white marble has only slight wear to the base corners. The dial has slight wear around the winding holes. The movement looks clean and ticks but needs the strike freeing.
