URUGUAY - 1940-44 GROUP OF COVERS inc. 22 Oct. 1940 censored env. from Stoke to Montevideo bearing 2d block of six and 2/6d brown paying the 3/6d per ½oz single letter rate. 3 Dec. 1940 censored env. from Bradford to Montevideo bearing 5/- pair paying the triple 3/6d per ½oz rate. 20 Jan. 1940 a most unusual env. from Liverpool to Montevideo redirected to Dakar and then returned to sender as recipient had left by ship. 11 June 1942 censored env. from Manchester bearing 2d pair, 4d (12), 9d 1/- (3) and 2/6d brown paying 3 x the 3/6d per ½oz rate. 17 April 1944 env. from London by North Atlantic Air Service via New York to Montevideo bearing 3d pair and 10/-m ultramarine paying the 3 x rate.
