Postal Reform. 1841 (Jan. 13) Entire letter from Huntingdon to Chatteris prepaid 1d in cash, the address panel with a fancy border printed in sliver, with "Edis, Huntingdon" at the base and "Paid" in the lower left corner, red Huntingdon datestamp, tiny fault at upper edge, otherwise fine. Similar 1840-41 printed lettersheets intended for prepaid mail were produced by J.W. Barraclough of Nuneaton (now listed by S.G. in their G.B catalogue) and I.R Taylor in London (recorded used at March and St. Ives); these are described in "British Postal Reform" by J. Grimwood-Taylor (p 630/2) which does not record this lettersheet by Edis. Very rare. Photo on Page 40.
