A VICTORIAN TEMPERANCE MEDAL. circular with a suspensory ring, inscribed on one side "GEORGE AMBLER (AGE 64) 42 YEARS A DRUNKARD SIGNED THE PLEDGE OF TOTAL ABSTINENCE 14TH FEBY. 1840" and "PRESENTED BY HIS REJOICING WIFE & CHILDREN ON HIS HAVING KEPT HIS PLEDGE 5 YEARS 'IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD?'" on the other, also inscribed "DIED AN ABSTAINER 17TH JUNE 1855" along the bottom edge, by Messrs Barnard, London 1844; 2.25" (5.7cm) diameter; 1.35ozt. *CR Just general wear, minor knicks to the edge - what a fun thing!
