** The artist was born in Devon and studied at Aberdeen Art School, and later in Paris under Bouguereau and Aman Jean. He exhibited at The  Royal Academy and other leading galleries as well as other Paris Salons he specialised in painting views in Surrey and Sussex

In good original unlined condition, the work has reasonably thick impasto in places, but there is some surface dirt, contained within a good quality ornate gilt plaster and wooden frame with inner gilt slip, probably placed on the work by the Bourne Gallery of Reigate, Surrey in the 1980s.
