A group of three medals, comprising a British War medal and Victory medal pair, awarded to 2563 Pte D Waterland 23rd London Regiment, with a Royal Humane Society bronze medal, Thomas C Waterland, 9th Aug 1911, boxed, a Life Saving Society Bronze Medallion, boxed, two sweetheart brooches and other items Note: At 4 pm on 9th August 1911 A E Barrow, who had assisted in saving a man from the sea at Mablethorpe, was himself washed away, but managed to hold on to a wooden culvert over which the sea was breaking. T C Waterland attempted to rescue him, but failed and G H Fowler then went in, and at great risk succeeded in bringing him to land
