An Indian lacquered hide shield, dhal, 19th c, of richly convex form, the central red tooled roundel in cream and gilt surround on a red ground, in conforming border, the scarlet and gilt inner face with scarlet wool cushion and enarmes on iron rings secured by four domed and pierced copper bosses, 56cm diam
Provenance: Acquired in the 19th c and thence by descent in the Leicester-Warren family to the present vendors and latterly at Davenport House, Bridgnorth, Shropshire
