We are delighted to offer Paul Atterbury's collection of photographs in this auction. He is a well known author of several railway books and these photographs and railway ephemera were collected by him and used in his published books.
Approx. 33 larger black and white prints, assorted sizes up to 12" x 8". A selection of BR(E), BR(Sc), BR(M) steam photographs. The prints are from several sources including D. Cross, N.E. Stead, A.O.Wynn, H.E. Casserley etc. Some are creased on the edges. Most are captioned, no copyright, sample illustrated.
PLUS: Approx. 26 larger size black and white prints, up to 11" x 9". A fascinating selection of prints depicting LNER carriage interiors, including dining, sleeping and day carriages and "The Flying Scotsman" interiors from 1938. Most of the prints are from the LNER publicity department. All are captioned, no copyright, sample illustrated.
PLUS: Approx. 43 larger size black and white prints, up to 12" x 9". A selection of prints depicting Southern steam in BR days. The prints are from several sources including: Southern Railway officials, John Goss, Derek Cross, A.C.Cawston, Brian Morrison, J.Scrace and others. Most are captioned, no copyright, sample illustrated.
PLUS: A selection of Post Office First Day Cover stamps including Stockton & Darlington 125 (1975), Great British Railways (2010), Leaders of the World (1984), Famous Trains (1985), Rainhill Trials 1829 and a few reproduction postcards and loose stamps (Cuneo). All excellent condition.
