An Ashantee Medal, Gold Coast 1873-74 campaign, 1 clasp, Coomassie, awarded to 1466 Private D. Ross, 42nd Royal Highlanders (1466 Pte. D. Ross. 42nd Highds 1873-4).
Private D. Ross was wounded in the jaw by a 'slug' at Amovfil 31st August 1874 whilst fighting the enemy. He was born in Largs, Ayrshite ain 1846 and enlisted on the 26th April 1866, age 20 years; he was discharged 26th September 1874.
