SS. GRIP – Wrecked in Gunwalloe, Church Cove, Cornwall, 1st February 1897, cargo- salt A Ship’s bronze bell Engraved with the port of registration, Throndhjen (Norway). This bell is almost unique in that as well as the year of build, 1890, the bell also holds the builder's nameplate – ‘1874 – Forges & Chantiers, Havre, de la Mediterranee’. Normally, this is a separate brass plate, usually found on the front of the ship’s bridge, 38cm x 42cm, 22.50kg; with a file of correspondence between Mr Larn and the former owner of the ss. Grip, Lloyds Register of Shipper and others, detailing the ownership of said ship.
