Star Lot : A very large original Trevor Halliday (b. 1939) mixed media watercolour painting on paper titled "Woodland." Features a New Forest landscape with energetic mark making and great movement in the trees and water. Signed bottom left and housed in a heavy quality black frame with glass.

Halliday is a painter and teacher, born in Birmingham, where he studied at the College of Arts and Crafts, 1954–60, then Royal Academy Schools, 1960–3. He held a number of fine art teaching posts and until 1989 was head of the fine art school at Birmingham Polytechnic. Among his group show appearances were Objects and Documents, Arts Council, 1971–2; Recent British Painting, at Hayward Gallery, 1974; Twenty One for Twenty One, at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham and tour, 1985; and John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool, 1991–2. He had a solo retrospective at Ikon Gallery, 1975. Lived in Grimsby, South Humberside.
