An early 19th century French Napoleonic period Briquet infantry sword in a later inlaid lockable wooden case with carved Fleur de Lis to the lid, and engraved brass plaque inside the lid: L 'Ecole d 'Application de I'Infanterie et la 14e Division Legere Blindee au Colonel MONGANNE Chef de Corps et Chef d'Etat-Major. (this translates to: The Infantry Application School and the 14th Light Armoured Division to Colonel MONGANNE Corps Commander and Chief of Staff). The sword having a single edged slightly curved blade and brass hilt. Makers name to the ricasso: PRADIER. With indistinct stamped mark to the opposite ricasso. Blade length 59cms (23.25ins). The wooden case is 82cms (32.25ins) x 20cms (8ins) x 8cms (3.125ins)
