THE BURT COLLECTION OF ENGLISH AND CONTINENTAL CERAMICS. Ron Burt was an avid collector of 18th and 19th century English and Continental porcelain. His was a truly academic passion and if a piece interested him he would find a place for it in his collection, even if it was damaged. In the early 1980s he took early retirement from Shell, where he was a research scientist and moved from Chester to South Devon. This allowed him, along with his wife Lenore, his constant companion for 70 years, to develop his interest into a profitable business. They scoured antique shops and auctions the length and breadth of the country looking for interesting pieces and for many years Ron and Lenore were a feature of major fairs from Bingley Hall to Ardingly and from Shepton Mallet to Newark. Inseparable in life, Ron and Lenore passed away peacefully within four days of each other in October last year. A group of three Bow putti one holding a dog, the second a bird, the third a basket of flowers, on mound bases applied with flowers, circa 1760, 13-14cm [damages] 3.
