Joan Hickson (b.1929) - Two original illustrations of postman pat titled: 'Postman Pat and the Villagers' and 'Pat One', gouache on paper, 29 x 14 cm each, frame dimensions: 31 x 44 cm, mounted, glazed and framed, both bearing Alexander Gallery labels verso with a photocopy of the Alexander Gallery receipt of purchase, which reads: 'This is original artwork by the artist Joan Hickson who was responsible for transforming the Postman Pat TV character into a drawn character suitable for use in children's books. She first became involved with Postman Pat in 1982 when she worked on the comic strip featuring him in the BBC children's comic 'Buttons'. From 1985 she illustrated the first books written by John Cunliffe.' (2)
