Having moved to Dartmouth in 1881 ‘much of his work was dominated by marine subjects on the South Cornish coast’ (Charles Napier Hemy R.A. Exhibition catalogue for the Laing Gallery, Newcastle Upon Tyne and Plymouth City Art Gallery 1984, p43).
This view of the river Dart at Dartmouth is similar to Plymouth of 1909.
