A silver mounted brass barrelled and brass framed flintlock boxlock blunderbuss pistol with spring bayonet, by Waters & Co, c 1780, 12½” overall, bell mouth barrel 7” with Tower private proofs, ramrod ramp on left side, and Waters patent 6” spring bayonet beneath released by rear trigger; frame engraved “Waters & Co” and “Patent No 183” in script, with top safety, plain bulbous walnut butt with oval silver escutcheon, silver grotesque mask butt cap HM Birmingham 1780, and with replacement ramrod.
