AN ORIGINAL VICTORIAN ATTESTATION DOCUMENT FOR ARCHIBOLD SPIERS MCRAE, who was awarded the rank of Ensign of Infantry 36th Regiment of Foot, it is dated 2nd January 1867, and stamped by the War Office 31.01.1867, Queen Victoria's signature appears top left, McRae was later promoted to Captain, London Gazette 11.04.1879, apparently he died suddenly aged forty six years, whilst serving in India, with the Punjab Infantry, and is buried at St Marys Churchyard, Sedgemoor, Somerset
