£350 - £400
A mid 18c eight day longcase clock, the 30cm arched brass dial signed James Smith, London and having scroll spandrels, date and seconds indicators and a strike/silent lever in the arch. The movement is of four pillar construction and is rack striking on a bell. It is contained in a mahogany case with swan neck pediments to the hood which has a row of inlays each side on the arch. The hood door is flanked by fluted columns and the long trunk door has fluted quarter columns flanking it and a shell inlay and inlaid rosettes to its corners and large bracket feet. The clock stands 228cm tall overall.
The movement and dial seem complete but require a complete restoration. The case is not in bad order apart from a missing section of back board behind the hood.
