Sarah Cornell was a leading cartographer of her time as well as one of the few women in the profession. This map was aimed at elementary school students and attempted to provide maps better suited to their needs by simplifying the information. In southern Africa only one city, Cape Town, is shown, but also four regions including Cape Colony, Caffraria, Zoolu Country, and interestingly, the Country of the Hottentots, north of the Orange River. Also note the Kong Mountains in Upper Guinea and the Mountains of the Moon in East Africa.
