A PAIR OF 18TH CENTURY STYLE FRENCH SILVER ECUELLES AND COVERS
probably 19th century, with Paris discharge mark, further marked U crowned, maker's mark P.P, the body with lobed stripes filled with repoussé decoration of flowers, with scrolling handles, with a rose finial, the base and inside of the tureen engraved 'Biddulph', 29cm across handles, 2,120gms / 68.15oz (2)

More Information

I have tested one ecuelle and the acid shows an amberish red - it would lean towards 800 standard. There is a scribe line just below the rims - they are in good condition with minor interior and exterior surface scratches, though the workmanship is quite crude, the repousse work may have been later or the ecuelles are possibly 19th century done in the early 18th century style
