A pair of long 16 bore brass barrelled flintlock duelling pistols, by Robert Wheeler, c 1780, 17½” overall, half octagonal barrels 12” with Tower private proofs and “RW” maker’s mark; flat stepped locks with semi rainproof pans and rollers on frizzen springs, signed “Wheeler” in script; plain walnut fullstocks with slightly flat sided butts and pale brass mounts comprising flower engraved trigger guards with pineapple finials and plain ramrod pipes, with plain replacement ramrods. Good Working Order and Condition, dark patina to the locks. Plate 14
