William Fritsche for Thomas Webb, a Rock Crystal cut sherry glass, circa 1903, the bell shaped bowl intaglio engraved with polished wrythen teardrops below Rococo wave scroll curtain band and floral and foliate fronds above, on a hexagonal cut baluster stem and radial frond cut foot, 10cm high Nte: developed by Bohemian glass engraver William Fritsche in the late 19th century whilst working for the Stourbridge glass firm of Thomas Webb and Sons, the technique of polishing both deep cut and shallow intaglio engraving to create an effect reminiscent of natural flawless quartz, became the trademark of Webb's production, most of which was deigned and supervised by Fritsche.
