A George II style walnut elbow chair, late 19th/early 20th century, the carved shell crest uniting a pair of eagle masks on out swept rails over the pierced splat and curved arm supports culminating in leaf scroll terminals, over a bowfront stuff-over seat and shell apron, upon front leaf moulded cabriole legs culminating in egg and claw feet, plain back swept rear legs united by a wavy cross stretcher, 97cm H, seat height 47cm, along with a 19th century Hepplewhite style dining chair, the pierced oval back rest centred with an inlaid boxwood fan, over a serpentine seat, 90cm high (2)
Provenance: Wykey House
Light fading to the elbow chair particularly on the arms, bracing bar to the rear rail, see additional image.
Chair feels 'tight' with very little or no movement in the joints, general minor light marks and scuffs commensurate with age and use.
Hepplewhite style chair has minor play in the joints, historic repair to back rail with later corner blocks added to the underside, further general commensurate wear.
