An unusual 19th century Chinese terracotta pilgrim bottle, pierced and sculpted in alternating tones of high and low relief with a landscape, the foreground dominated by a paifang enclosing further architecture, surmounted by blossoming prunus and flanked by pagoda-type structures, twin-ring handles, glazed in varying mottled brown tones, 14.5cm high, c. 1880
Good condition without any cracks, chips or restoration. Minor rim nibble. Loss of glaze to foot from firing. Anticipated crazing and some light pitting.
