A PAIR OF CHINESE HUAPANDI OR MATIDI SHOES

Qing Dynasty, 19th/20th century, the upper sections embroidered with flowers, 13cm high x 21cm long; together with a pair of Chinese child's boots, woven with cat faces to the front, the foot approximately 11cm long; and a Chinese doll, 22cm high (5)

Provenance: Thomas Child (1841 – 1898) was a pioneering photographer who produced a large body of photographs during his time in Beijing during the 1870's. He was close to the Emperor and the court. The family  believe a number of objects were gifts from the Imperial family.
