Fifteen 19th century 'Chapbooks' and pocket books. Kendrew, York; 'The Cheerful Warbler,' chapbook, woodcuts throughout, J. Kendrew, York; 'The Surprising Adventures of Puss in Boots,' chapbook, woodcuts throughout, ink stamp to titlepage, J. Kendrew, York; 'The History of Little Red Riding Hood,' decorative thin card wrap, frontis, title vignette and five other woodcuts, fine, William Walker, Otley, [c.1880]; J. R. PLANACHE. 'The King of the Peacocks,' thin yellow card wraps, first performed at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, S. G. Fairbrother, London, [c.1850]; 'The Multiplication Table in Rhyme for Arithmeticians,' chapbook, engravings, thin card wraps, Kiggins & Kellog, [c.1850]; 'Peter Pipers Practical Principles of Plain and Perfect Pronunciation,' contemporary thin card wraps, woodcuts throughout, J. Harris, London, n.d; With seven other chapbooks and pocket books including 'Dame Wiggins Lee' and 'The Boy and the Rainbow. (15)
'Peter Piper' does indeed contain 24 half page wood cuts, that have not been coloured and are in vg to fine condition. 'Childrens Life,' there 10 colour leaves that are illustrated to one side only, unfortunately there is no titlepage or any publisher's details and illustrator name. I do beleive that this is late 19th century (based on experience and not a reference).
