A pair of 60 bore flintlock boxlock pocket pistols by Riviere, London, c1820, 5” overall, turn off barrels 1½” with engraved band at breech end, the breeches signed and with London proofs (very worn on one pistol); the frames engraved with trophies and roped lower edge, the cocks with a fish; with rollers on frizzen springs, top safeties which lock the frizzens, hidden triggers, and plain walnut slab butts. One pistol GWO & C (slightly worn with small patch of pitting), the other pistol WO & basically GC (worn, butt fracture repaired); in their fitted green baize lined mahogany case, the lid with folding brass carrying handle, maker’s trade label of “Riviere, Gun Maker, No 121 Oxford Street”, altered in ink “Removed to No 315), containing a copper powder flask, a 48 bore steel pincer mould, and a modern barrel key. Note: Riviere was at 121 Oxford Street from 1809 to 17, and moved to 315 Oxford Street in 1818. Plate 31 .
