Jewsbury (1130787), who won the award as a Flight Sergeant Air Gunner flying in a Halifax bomber and serving in Bomber Command. The citation stated "This airman has invariably exhibited the greatest keenness and enthusiasm for operations. During an air attack on Mainz the aircraft in which he was flying as Air Gunner was illuminated by search lights for several minutes and on another occasion was forced to dive from 15,000 to 3,000 feet. On one raid on Turin one engine became unserviceable before reaching the target, nevertheless the sortie was completed. Despite such harassing incidents F/S Jewsbury has continued to operate with coolness and composure and has always had a bracing effect on the rest of the crew. Also included is an Air Gunners flying log book with handwritten details of operational sorties, a collection of contemporary photographs, maps with annotations, uniform jacket, insignia and ephemera.
