A William & Mary pewter flat-lid tankard, Birmingham, circa 1690

The relatively slender straight-sided body with two narrow bands, and crowned ‘WR’ mark (mirrored RWR) to lip, the lid with front pierced denticulations, rams’ horn thumbpiece, and hollow S-curve handle with ram’s head terminal, ownership initials ‘HT’ to the underside of the lid rim, scattered hallmarks to top of lid and touchmark inside base of William Wood II, Birmingham,(fl.1665-1726), (PS10406), height 15cm
