JAMAICA/U.S.A. - "JAMAICA/F" D.S. ON COVER EX NAVAL 'BOMB' SHIP H.M.S. VOLCANO AT PORT ROYAL; 13 Nov. 1814 EL (minor creasing) from "H.M.S. Volcano, Port Royal, Jamaica" to the Marine Barracks in Stonehouse in Devon (redirected locally) with mainly fine rare green "FALMOUTH/DE 30/1814/F" cds (light creasing) on the front; the letter describes in detail a recent naval engagement with an American privateer (it was during the Anglo-American "War of 1812") in which RM Lieut. Furzen was shot dead in the act of throwing a grenade. Rare Campaign letter from this remote theatre of war during the "War of 1812".
