The E-Type was initially designed as a rear-wheel drive Grand Tourer in two-seater Coupé form, and as a two-seater Convertible. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made".
The Series 1 cars, which are by far the most valuable, essentially fall into two categories: Those made between 1961 and 1964, which had 3.8 litre engines and non-synchromesh transmissions, and those made between 1965-1967, which increased engine size and torque by around 10%, added a fully synchronised transmission, and also provided new reclining seats, an alternator in place of the prior generator, an electrical system switched to negative ground, and other modern amenities, all while keeping the same classic Series 1 styling. The 4.2 litre Series 1 E-Types also replaced the brake booster of the 3.8 litre with a more reliable unit.
This 1964 Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 litre comes fresh from a full nut and bolt restoration. This Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 litre has just arrived from the restorers and is in brand new order throughout. The Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 litre was supplied new to a US forces Sgt McKinzie in LHD form to US forces in Germany. The car has been restored as a right hand drive example. All numbers match and the Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 litre is finished in its original colours of cream exterior with red interior hide with matching red carpets. A full photographic file comes with the Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 litre detailing the various steps in the restoration process. The Jaguar E Type Series 1 3.8 litre original Jaguar manual is also present. Aside from this, there is not much to add as these restored cars speak for themselves.
