Approximately 29 black and white photographs by Keystone, Canadian Official and other similar press agencies, circa 1944-45, printed captions verso, sizes approximately 20.5cm x 15cm; sold together with approximately 28 further photographs relating to Dunkirk, mainly anniversary re-issues or commemorative modern examples (group) Subjects include: 1: French civilians watching the American flag raised in Cherbourg 2: The 23-year-old French woman Grande Guillotte, a 'German collaborator' who was dragged from her house and had her head shaved 3: R.A.F Officers assisting nuns in Bayeux 4: Locals in Caen scan Allied leaflets 5: Field Marshal Montgomery receiving a bouquet of flowers 6: French Resistance fighters collecting weapons 7: Elderly Frenchman giving the troops cider as they move into Torigny 8: British and Canadian Troops entering Failaise, with jubilant civilians to one side 9: German signs being removed 10: Resistance fighters toasting to victory 11: The 'Torture Chamber' at the rear of the Ministry of Aviation building, where F.F.I men were tied to posts and shot or burned alive And others (57)
